I think that it was probably more than the compulsive computer gaming that got people to call the police.

Sadly. It's probably all symptoms of the same problem. If they solve the route cause of one instead of just the symptoms they might just turn his life around. Maybe being sectioned is the best thing for him.

When they say "gaming" I'm pretty sure that they mean gambling. In which case they're quite right to section him before he gets himself into serious financial trouble.
