Hello

I own a 22 slot TF2 server from inx-gaming, i spoke to one of the sales staff about having HLStatsX on my server and was told that you guys dont do support for it. Then i was told that i may be able to install it on my webspace from inx...

So my question is... anyone have a clue how to install hlstatsx on the webspace?

You need PHP and one SQL database available iirc.

Try looking here: http://www.hlstatsx.com/sitemap

However, there is now no community support from HLStatsX, the devs have taken down the forums due to 'legal issues'. I don't know what that means either. Consequently, I'm looking into Psychostats, as it's free (HLStatsX isn't if you want it to be easy to install, use and do useful stuff) and there seems to be strong community support :)

Ye, ive been over there sitemap but it didnt really help... ive never played with SQL and PHP so i have no idea how to set it up and there is no one that supports setting it up by the looks of it either.

When you buy webspace, you will be given the choice for a SQL installation and PHP (for a bit of extra cash). It would be all set up for you by the company you bought it from, all you need to do is name the SQL database and set up users for it.

Check here: http://www.psychostats.com/doc/PsychoStats_Installation

The installation guides and FAQs for Psychostats are way way better.

I'm the same as you tbh - I've only just started running a server, and am feeling my way forward. In this case, because documentation is better for psychostats, I'm going with that :)

Well my webspace is from Inx, and it appears SQL and PHP are on there already, i created a database but the setup info for hlstatsx is just awful. Im gonna take a look at PsychoStats

Good luck! I'm attempting the same this weekend, so let me know how you get on :)

The HLStasX literature for installation assumes IIRC that you have full shell access...its almost written badly to persuade you to pay for the premium service.

I put Psychosats on my INX webspace a few months ago, never looked back.

The only issue I had really was the exact format for the logsource as that part of the install guide at the time was missing.

The INX webspace certainly has all you need for Psychostats, and let's face it HLStats looks like something from the 80's compared to Psycho.

The only real downside that I see to Psychostats at the moment over HLStatsX, is the plug-ins server side...getting them to work with PS seems a little hit and miss, but I am sure in time they will develop and Psychostats will be beyond compare.

Well, we got Psychostats installed etc. turned out to be fairly painless. Now I just need to work out how to get it on the motd :)

WooHoo! Got it all working, updating, MOTD displays the stats etc. If anyone needs a hand, give me a shout!
