No Data Received

If you are seeing No Data Received in your control panel it means one of three things. Either your server is currently starting up if you have just started it and its not at a point to show any data. Or your server has crashed or stopped. The third option is your running a game that the panel does not support a status for these being Killing floor and Medal of Honour, for these games you will need to use HLSW to check your server is running.

How can I fix this?

First please ensure your FTP password is set, there is no harm in changing it even if you think its working. Then click restart and see what happens.

If after 30 seconds there is no sign of life please run fix me and again wait for this to complete and then click restart and see if it now starts. If not have a look over the suggestions below.

At this stage is a good idea to check you can ping the IP of your game server  before trying to continue, as its uncommon for a machine to fall over and we normally notice them and pick them back up. This little check can save you a lot of head scratching because you think your server is at fault!

Have you made any changes to your server?

A common reason for servers to stop starting is a mod has been installed incorrectly or incompatible addons being loaded after updates especially with game like CSS, TF2 and L4d2. If we have posted an update on the blog for one of these games you update your server and it then does not start. It is a good chance that an add-on is broken. To fix simply navigate to the game folder and rename addons to something else like addons! to prevent it being loaded at start up. Then click re-start in the panel and it should now start.

Orangebox Games

If you are running an orangebox game like CSS, TF2 etc there is a bug where it crashes on start up, please login to your ftp and navigate to /srcd_l/orangebox/ and remove the bin folder once removed go to the game folder your trying to run eg cstrike for css and tf for team fortress 2, and remove the bin folder from there. Once both have been deleted go back to the panel and click update and once complete click start and your server should come online. If it does not at this point then you should raise a support ticket.

Reinstalling

If you choose to reinstall this will remove all the game data for that particular game and so use with care! You might also need to run fix-me after a reinstall to make sure the start files are present. Also in some situations it will not fix a problem especially with if your server is crashing with the bin folder problem, you are best raising a ticket and getting a member of staff to fix it for you if you have tried the bin folder fixer and failed.
